A 8-String Projoy Rapid Shutdown (RSD) unit—from Projoy’s multi-string PEFS-EL Series (Array-Level Emergency Switches)—is a high-capacity, heavy-duty solar safety switch engineered for commercial, industrial, or large residential PV installations. It isolates up to 8 independent PV strings simultaneously (16 poles) to rapidly drop high-voltage DC conduit lines to a safe voltage during emergencies.
Undervoltage Release Protection: The unit requires continuous 100V–270V AC grid auxiliary power to keep the internal switch closed. If grid power fails or is cut via a firefighter emergency stop button: • The motor switch trips the internal DC isolators in < 100 ms, breaking full DC load current. • Isolates array voltage directly at the roof level, protecting personnel from high-voltage DC arcs in conduit paths. Auto-Reset Functionality: Once AC control power is restored, the motor automatically drives the DC switch back to the ON position, removing the need for rooftop resets. Thermal Cutoff Protection: Equipped with internal temperature monitoring that automatically triggers full system shutdown if internal enclosure temperatures exceed 70°C to 85°C.
